An environmentally friendly and carbon-conscious classic car storage facility – believed to be the first of its type in the world – has opened in Kent. Racing Green Car Storage operates from a building that’s powered by solar energy and conserves rainwater.

Trees are planted through Net-Hero to offset the carbon footprint of each that’s car stored at the facility, with the precise contribution dependent on its annual use and a minimum amount set for vehicles that rarely move.

'We’ve set out to re-define collector car storage'

Motoring writer and site partner, James Mills, said: ‘We have a responsibility to the environment and wanted to create something designed for sustainability. We’ve set out to re-define collector car storage. As far as we as we know there’s no other carbon-balanced storage facility like this’.

Working with him on the new venture is ‘lifelong petrol-head’ Oliver Hagger, who added: ‘We feel that it’s the right thing to do. We started with a clean sheet and the idea is to give exceptional service and, as we head towards net zero, help safeguard the collector car hobby for decades and generations to come.’
